How we clean.
Updated August 18, 2026
Every piece is inspected, then cleaned, before it goes back into a box. We wash for the next child, not for a fragrance. Parents look at this harder than adult rental — the steps below are the process we follow.
The process
- Scan the barcode on return. Status moves to inspection.
- Grade condition. Note stains, hardware, and smell.
- Wash or spot-clean by fabric. Follow the care label.
- Re-inspect. Stains that remain go through again or to repair.
- Only then can the garment become available for the next box.
Sanitization
We do not use a spray in place of a wash. A piece that still smells after cleaning does not go back out.
Detergent and solvent
We use a fragrance-free, dye-free liquid detergent made for sensitive skin. No fabric softener. No dryer sheets. No perfume boosters.
An extra rinse runs on every machine cycle. We skip chlorine bleach on regular loads so prints and elastic last through more rotations.
Stains
Everyday food, grass, and playground dirt are part of the plan. We pre-treat what we can see, then wash. Stains that remain after one clean go back through or to repair.
Ink, paint, marker, and set-in oil may not come out. Those garments are repaired if we can, or retired. See the damage policy for what may be billed.
What we do not do
We do not dry-clean as a default. We do not send a piece back out with a known hole, broken fastener, or smell we could not remove.
Allergies
If a child cannot tolerate even free-and-clear detergent, do not put that child on this membership until you have talked with us. Reply to any Turnzi email with the allergy before the next box ships.
